What is CrossFit, Yoga & Bodybuilding?

Hi Guys!

Been away for a while… Actually more than a while…

Most of u’ll must have thought that Canute ain’t gonna write anymore… Well, here I’m coming up with something new…

This blog was originally gonna be me sharing how my 2017 went & blah blah blah…

And then suddenly I came across a really interesting question lately… Which made me ask myself why?

What is Crossfit, Yoga & Bodybuilding?

Well, hope you all have read my “First Step to CrossFit”. If yes, you all are clear about CrossFit. If No, here’s the direct link to the page “https://sapcrossfit.blogspot.in/2017/05/first-step-to-crossfit.html

Let’s start with the most relaxing nature…

Yoga: This the definition as per Google “A Hindu spiritual and ascetic discipline, a part of which, including breath control, simple meditation, and the adoption of specific bodily postures, is widely practised for health and relaxation.” To put it a box, perfect way to relax your mind & body.

Now something that gets you exhausted yet excited…

Bodybuilding: Google says “A sport involving strenuous physical exercise in order to strengthen and enlarge the muscles of the body.” Now this is something many misunderstand. For most of us bodybuilding is more or less something to do with regular gym workout. Well, it’s way different than what we actually think… This is a much respected sport & you need to hit every muscle to be called as a bodybuilder. To sum it up it’s pure muscle strength you need to bang on. I personally don’t recommend any supplements to be taken & hit as hard as you can to get those muscles pumped.

Then is my favourite & something I personally call “Mental Illness”. Most of the Crossfitters would agree on this… Well all you need to about Crossfit is available at the link shared earlier… Oh don’t bother about scrolling up its right here…

Well let’s see lil bit of CrossFit v/s Bodybuilding:

Bodybuilding Bodybuilding! Focus on growth and development of muscles. Aim is to reduce body fat and add muscle mass. Helps in development of each body part. Every part is worked individually, from shoulders to calves. Bodybuilding tends to deliver the best results, if you are focused on proportionate and aesthetic appearance of your body. The process is kick-ass & lengthy procedure. The key to results is patience & dedication to a certain regime. CrossFit Crossfit can be defined as a strength and conditioning program. It is not programmed or designed to focus on a particular aspect such as size or aesthetic appearance. Focus is on fitness, to make you as fit as possible. Unlike bodybuilding, Crossfit doesn’t focus on size or aesthetic appearance… Why are these different? CrossFit is not a specialized sport. In CrossFit, you have a workout of the day also known as WOD. It includes different kind of workout. Now when I say kind of WOD, you can expect weights, run, row & do Olympic lifts along with various athletic activities. In bodybuilding, your routine focuses on one body part a day, 5-6 exercises, 3 sets with minimum of 10 reps per set. The usual interval is about 60-80 secs between every set. CrossFit is high intensity activity when compared to Bodybuilding. However, due the nature of Crossfit, there are higher chances of injury compared to bodybuilding. If you wanna grow big & aesthetic the CrossFit is probably not you’re calling. But if fitness is your only goal and you want to be athlete who can run, lift, be a jack of all trades then go for it.

Are you a beginner?

If yes, you need to hit a gym before you can hit a box. Now the question arises, why can’t a beginner hit the box instead? Well, you need to build those muscles before you are able to perform tough & complex WOD like CrossFit. So newbies hit the gym get those muscles into action & hit a box. CrossFit involves complex lifts such as deadlifts & squats, which might be a bit too much for a beginner. So step one learn & get those muscles built & then step two hit a box for total fitness. CrossFit works better as an advanced workout. There are many things that has happened in these couple of months… My 2018 resolution is to take part in as many competitive events as possible & to lead a different life. My personal hash tags are
